Stockton, CA — (June 13, 2015) — Austin Liggett had a night to remember on Saturday night with the Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos, as petersen-media-wingless-stockton-podium-junethe Tracy, CA driver clean swept the night’s event including setting a new series track record at the Stockton Dirt Track.

Sharing the front row with perennial series favorite, Terry Schank Jr, Liggett was hard on the throttle as he jumped into the lead with Colton Slack moving into the second spot, as the yellow flag would fly with just one lap complete.

The ensuing restart saw Slack challenge Liggett for the top spot in turns one and two, but Liggett was able to use momentum from the high side of the speedway to shoot down the backstretch, and open up his advantage.

While the leaders battled up front, the battle for third was heating up as Schank, and the series’ most recent winner, Joe Stornetta, hooked up in an exciting duel, while Shane Myhre ran in the fifth spot just behind them.

As the laps clicked off, Liggett continued to show the way up front as he found himself in lapped traffic on the eighth lap. As the traffic used the bottom of the speedway, the leaders would go to work on the high side and Liggett would soon feel Slack pressuring him for the lead.

Lap 10 saw the lead battle heat up out front, as third running Joe Stornetta would pull of the speedway with issues moving Matt Streeter into the top-five behind them.

Liggett continued to be the man to beat up front as Slack continued to stalk him, but behind the leaders, Gary Nelson, Jr began making a late race charge as the race reached the halfway point as he climbed into the fifth spot.

As the race reached the home stretch, Liggett nearly saw disaster strike as he got into the cushion on the 18th lap and his machine got out of shape, though he was able to remain out front, Slack was in striking position until the race’s final caution flew on the 20th lap.

The final restart would lead to an exciting five-lap shootout for the win as Ligget would get a great start and see Terry Schank Jr battle with Colton Slack for the second spot.

As this happened the duo closed in on Liggett and the top three raced wheel to wheel for the race lead in the final stages, as Gary Nelson moved into the fourth spot, and began chasing down the lead pack.

Liggett would give himself some breathing room as he raced his way on to pick up the win, and finish off the sweep, while Slack took second place honors and Nelson, Jr made a last corner pass on Schank to take the final spot on the podium.

“This track was so fun to race on, and it is pretty cool to clean sweep the event,” said Austin Liggett in victory lane. “I really have to thank this team for giving me a chance to race with them, and giving me a great car all night.”

Schank would finish in the fourth spot with Matt Streeter rounding out the Top-Five. Shawn Jones would cross the stripe in sixth, Angelique Bell seventh, Bradley Clark eighth, Nick Larson ninth, and John Clark would round out the Top-10.

As mentioned, Austin Liggett got things started off by setting quick time, as well as establishing a new Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos track record at the Stockton Dirt Track with a lap of 16.727 seconds.

In three Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos heat races, wins would go to Austin Liggett, Terry Schank, Jr, and Colton Slack, as Liggett was also victorious in the night’s Dash.
