Abbottstown, PA — (July 20, 2015) — Heads will turn when the legendary machine steered by Broken Arrow, Oklahomaโs Stevie Smith rolls out of the race hauler this coming Friday Night during Williams Grove Speedwayโs World of Outlaws Summer Nationals. The Fred Rahmer-owned ride will adorn a retro-styled โBlack Banditโ No. 19 paint scheme in the events leading up to Wednesday, August 26 (raindate: August 27) and the Apple Chevrolet โLegends of Central Pennsylvaniaโ event at the Lincoln Speedway.
โWe are bringing back the โBlack Bandit;โ seeing it in the garage makes me feel like Iโm in a time warp.โ said Rahmer. โItโs a great way for us to honor Stevie and his dad and it gets us excited for the โLegendsโ race.โ
While Stevie Smith will pilot the car this weekend, it will be Steve Smith Sr. behind the wheel at the โLegendsโ event. The patriarch of the Smith racing family, Steve Sr. holds more than 200 victories at Central Pennsylvania racetracks, including 150 at the Lincoln Speedway โ but winning wonโt be an easy task, as drivers like Doug Wolfgang, Steve Stambaugh, Lynn Paxton, Keith Kauffman, Cris Eash, Kenny Adams, Billy Pauch, Todd Shaffer, Steve Siegel and Bobby Weaver have their sights set on victory.
Fred Rahmer Promotions and Apple Chevrolet of York, PA are presenting the โLegends of Central Pennsylvaniaโ event, on Wednesday, August 26 (Raindate: August 27) as a tribute to this regionโs colorful Sprint Car history. Driving greats from the โ60s, โ70s, โ80s and โ90s will compete in 410 Sprint Cars one more time, with heat races and a special 20 lap feature. Also on the card is an invitation only $10,000 winner-takes-all Shootoutโ featuring six of the nationโs top Sprint Car starsโas well as full program of 358 Sprint Cars.
Much like Smith and โThe Black Bandit,โ all of the legends will compete in modern day cars with graphics similar to the machines they made famous.
โThe Black Banditโ No. 19 sees action this coming weekend for the World of Outlaws Summer Nationals at the Williams Grove Speedway, and will head west for the Knoxville Nationals before Steve Smith Sr. takes the wheel on August 26.
Race team sponsors include: Miller Brothers Chevrolet, Wege Pretzels of Hanover, Aran Trading, Pioneer Pole Buildings, Kenโs Tire, Specialty Rigging, Spectra Oil
