SCONE plans busy 2016 season

Piermont, NH — (December 19, 2015) — The Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) racers gathered at Chris Donnelly’s Wicked Racing Products race shop in Piermont, NH recently to make plans for the 2016 racing season.

SCoNE director Will Hull presented a tentative 21-race schedule for 2016 with races at Legion Speedway in Rumney, NH, Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt, and Devil’s Bowl Speedway in W. Haven, Vt. Returning for 2016 is the SCoNE Triple Crown series over the 4th of July weekend and theESS/SCoNE Green Mountain Sprint Car Nationals in September. The schedule is close to being finalized and will be posted on the club’s Facebook page and website when it is firm.

Will announced that Mike Bruno was offering a special points fund for the races at Devil’s Bowl that will be paid out at the end of the year. Also, transponders will be mandatory in all cars at all races in 2016. The driver/owner is responsible for proving the transponder.

The pros and cons of a SCoNE tire rules were discussed and the membership decided to continue racing with no restrictions on tires. Also, various provisions to drop races for the overall points total calculations were discussed and the members decided to not make any changes for 2016.
The SCoNE start and restart procedures as well as the points allocations process were reviewed and while no changes were made, the rule book will be updated to properly reflect current practices.
