Millstadt, IL — (January 9, 2016) — After a fantastic 2015 season, the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series has 31 races scheduled, starting out the 2016 season with a double header at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas on Friday, March 5th and Saturday, March 6th for the Red River Roundup. The season will come full circle, concluding on October 29th at Red River Speedway.
After the Red River Roundup, the West Midget Series will join the National Midget Series in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the Turn Pike Challenge at Port City Raceway on Friday, April 1st and Saturday, April 2nd. Two of six co-sanctioned events with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series, it will be a head-to-head battle as the West Midget Series defends their turf at Port City Raceway.
Out of the 31 events, the West Midget Series will co-sanction a total of six weekends with the National Midget Series including the Turn Pike Challenge, the Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals and the Iron Man 55. The Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals will take place on Friday, May 6th at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri before venturing to the title-sponsor owned Lucas Oil Speedway, dubbed the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks,” on Saturday, May 7th for the final night of the Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals.
The West Midgets will also return to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri for the Iron Man 55 weekend on Friday, August 5th and Saturday, August 6th, paired up with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. The Iron Man 55, a can’t miss event, will be the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series only visit to the high-banked 3/8 mile in 2016. Also co-sanctioning two events, the RMMRA will join POWRi West at Airport Raceway on Friday, September 2nd and Saturday, September 3rd in Garden City, Kansas.
Oklahoma Speedweek will return in 2016 with the week kicking off on Wednesday, August 17th at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma. On Thursday, August 18th teams will invade Creek County Speedway in Kelleyville, Oklahoma, before venturing to 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kansas on Friday, August 19th. Dodge City Speedway in Dodge City, Kansas will wrap up Oklahoma Speedweek on Saturday, August 20th.
