Joey Saldana took another step closer to joining the World of Outlaws 100-win club as he picked up his 97th career win with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ in what was an entertaining feature event at the Jacksonville Speedway on Wednesday night.
“I can’t thank everyone at Roth Motorsports enough for what they do for us, allowing us to compete at this level,” Joey Saldana said. “Luckily Dennis and Teresa Roth were patient with us as the year started, because I feel like we are really gelling and putting ourselves in a good position.”
Wednesday night at the Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, IL a healthy field of 46 cars checked into the pit area, and Saldana showed speed early on the short track as he timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 machine in fourth fastest in his qualifying flight.
Finishing second to Shane Stewart during his heat race, ‘The Brownsburg Bullet’ would transfer into the dash where the win would put him on the pole for the 40-lap A Main event.
When the race came to life, Saldana would jump out to the lead as he went to the top of the track, as Aaron Reutzel gave chase in the race’s early stages. On the tight confines of the Jacksonville Speedway, Reutzel would take the lead from Saldana on the seventh lap as the Brownburg, IN driver fell back to the third spot.
Moving to the bottom of the speedway, Saldana would get back by Shane Stewart to reclaim the second position as he set his sights on the race lead.
Staying committed to the bottom of the speedway as he fought threw traffic, a very patient Saldana would make his move back by Reutzel for the top spot just before the race’s halfway point.
Out front, Saldana would get back to the cushion and set a nice pace until the back half of the race brought numerous cautions and restarts. Able to remain out front despite being bunched back up, Saldana would race on to score his third win of the 2016 season and his 97th overall with the series.
Saldana and company were also in action over the weekend at the Eldora Speedway. Friday night would see Saldana pick up his fourth quick time award of the season before finishing 16th in the feature event, and on Saturday night, he would be involved in a wreck that ended his night while running inside the Top-five.
“It was really good to get this organization another World of Outlaws win,” Saldana added. “I was hoping to carry that into the weekend at Eldora, but unfortunately we had some things not go our way. My guys are continuing to work hard, and hopefully we can be competitive again this weekend.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
