PETERSEN MEDIA- After dabbling on the pavement towards the end of the 2015 season, Robbie Price was able to put a last minute deal together to run the complete Royal Purple NSRA season in 2016 and during the series’ season opener on Saturday night, Price battled back from a slow start to earn his first win of the year.

“I kind of got off to a slow start, but once I got the wing back and switched my line up we were really good, and ended the night in victory lane,” Price explained.

Setting the standard in qualifying time trials, the Cobble Hill, BC driver would line up fourth in the Dash and finish in the second spot.

During his heat race, Price would finish fifth after starting in the sixth spot, which lined him up in the third row for the 50-lap feature event.

When the green flag flew on the feature, Price got off to a slow start as he faded back as far as the eighth spot. Unable to get going, Price quickly went to his wing slider, where he would roll his wing back to make more traction as he began searching around the track.

Finding a new line to try, Price’s machine turned into a rocket as he quickly started picking up positions lap after lap. On the 30th lap, Price would get into the lead, and quickly distance himself from the rest of the field.

Out front, it was smooth sailing for Price as he went on to win his first race of the season in convincing fashion.

“This is a huge accomplishment for this team,” Price added. “Just a couple of weeks ago they had no driver and had no plans of racing. We put something together late and we ended up coming out and starting the year off right. Big thanks to Rendle’s and everyone on this team.”

Price and his team would like to thank Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal, Tiger Towing, Rod End Supply, Wildlight Photography, Shark Racing Engines, and Speedmart for their support during the 2016 season.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-17, Wins-0, Top-5’s-2, Top 10’s-6

ON TAP: Price will get back on the dirt this coming Saturday night as he will meet up with the King of the West Series in Stockton, CA.
