KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 24, 2016) – White Lightning Motorsports driver Jamie Ball remains in the hunt for the Sprint Invaders championship as well as the track title at Knoxville Raceway.

Ball posted another top-five finish last Wednesday at Iowa State Fair Speedway in Des Moines, Iowa, to maintain the lead in the Sprint Invaders championship standings and he recorded a ninth-place result on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway to stay second in the points.

The week began with Ball winning a heat race from the pole last Wednesday at Iowa State Fair Speedway.

“We’ve been really consistent with the Sprint Invaders this year,” he said. “I drew a good number, which is the key to everything. I was able to win the heat race and put ourselves in the dash.”

Ball then finished second in the dash and lined up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“The feature was up and down,” he said. “The starts were not very good. The guy in front of me wouldn’t go and I about got into a couple of accidents. Once we got rolling I was on Matt Moro for second in traffic until a yellow. After the restart I lost my rhythm on hitting my marks and we fell back to fifth, but we’ll take a top five any day.”

Ball took that momentum following the fifth-place finish into Saturday’s race at Knoxville Raceway, where he qualified sixth quickest before placing sixth in a heat race and ninth in the feature.

“I just never could get rolling,” he said. “We threw an engine in with a different configuration. It was fast, but difficult to throttle. We’re going to put old reliable back in for this week.”

Teammate Devin Kline faced more tough luck in the 305ci class. Kline qualified second quickest and powered from fifth to second place in a heat race. However, the crate engine the team was using began to short out the battery in the feature and Kline was forced to pull into the pits midway through the race while in fourth place. He was credited with a 14th-place result.

“We’ll get our Ostrich engine back in that we hurt on practice night for this week,” he said. “I feel like I’m out of the points battle. The pressure is off and I can have some fun and go out and win some races.”

White Lightning Motorsports will return to action on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway with Ball also racing on Sunday with the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.
