Dupo, IL (June 29, 2016) It’s been a crazy season so far for Shannon McQueen as she tackles both the USAC West Coast Sprint Car schedule and a large race schedule in her self-owned midget.  In the last few months, she and her McQueen Racing team have gone from a race shop housing two midgets to now housing two midgets and the non-wing 360 sprint car owned by Bobby and Toni Van Meter.  While it’s been a lot of work for Shannon and her dad, Duane, it also has brought Shannon to a new level of comfort as she has always been a very hands on driver.  As for the results, they speak for themselves as Shannon and the entire V & M Motorsports team have continued to improve throughout this 2016 season.

This past Saturday night, Shannon and the team headed up to Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds in Hanford, California.  In qualifying, Shannon bobbled a bit on lap one costing her some valuable time and taking a safer approach on lap two, she turned in a lap of 16.609, good enough for ninth quick.  This put her starting on the outside of row one in heat race action.  Getting a good start, Shannon was able to run out front and earn her first career USAC West Coast Sprint Car heat race win.  Shannon then lined up seventh for 30-lap A-main event.  Unfortunately the car was just a little off and Shannon was only able to hold on for an 11th place finish.  When asked about the results, Shannon said that 11th place really doesn’t do justice for how she and the team ran all night.  She stated that she is having fun racing again and noted how nice is it to be competitive in the sprint car series.

This weekend, Shannon and the V & M Motorsports team will head out on Friday to Santa Maria Raceway for the Doug Fort Memorial.  Racing in conjunction with the USAC/CRA 410 sprint cars, Shannon will compete in a weekly, unsanctioned 360 sprint car event.  Last year when the team went to one of the Santa Maria weekly events, Shannon was able to earn a heat race win and finish second in the A-main.  She will be looking to score her first sprint car victory this Friday night when she returns to Santa Maria.  After that, both the McQueen Racing and the V & M Motorsports teams will take a much needed weekend off before returning to midget racing in a few weeks, followed by a two-day weekend of sprint car racing in Tulare at the end of July.  Keep following Shannon McQueen Racing on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with all Shannon’s race results.

Shannon would like to thank her V & M Motorsports team for all their hard work and also a big thank you to all the sponsors that are supporting her in 2016 – Lucas Oil Products, Simpson Race Products, DMI, Rod End Supply, K&N Filters, MPD, Jet-Hot High Performance Coatings, Butler Built Seating Systems, Schoenfeld Headers, American Fabrication, West Evans Motorsports, MurfDogg Racing, Eibach Springs, Esslinger Racing Engines by Duane McQueen, Hoosier Tire, Mud-X, Millenium Components, Penske Shocks, Kara Hendrick Foundation, Top Shelf Design Company, and ODYSSEY Batteries.
