Getting back to the Petaluma Speedway over the weekend, Andy Forsberg and his C&M Motorsports team would pick up their seventh win of the 2016 season, and also lock into October’s Adobe Cup as Sunday night’s event acted as the race’s third qualifying event.
“We had an awesome racecar on Sunday night, and it feels nice to get back into victory lane,” Andy Forsberg said.
Coming off of a frustrating Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway that saw Forsberg come to a stop on the race’s opening lap with a spin in front of him, the Auburn, CA driver would come out on Sunday night with a chip on his shoulder.
Timing the PT Shocks/PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness No. 7c entry in second quickest in time trials, Forsberg would attack the hooked up Petaluma Speedway surface during his heat race as he would earn a second place finish in his heat race.
Pulling the two pill in the redraw, Forsberg would line up on the front row of the 25-lap feature event alongside Tyler Walker. On a hooked up and choppy surface, Forsberg would fall into the second spot as Walker led the early laps.
Getting into lapped traffic, Forsberg would get by Walker on the sixth lap and simply never look back. Aboard a bad fast C&M Motorsports machine, Forsberg could put his car wherever he needed to as he carved through lapped traffic at will.
With only one caution used on this night, Forsberg would turn in a dominating performance as he would lap up to 10th place as he picked up his seventh win of the 2016 season.
“The track was just how I like it, and Cody and the guys gave me a great car that was a lot of fun to drive,” Forsberg said. “It was a fun Sunday night show, and this team is glad to be locked into the Adobe Cup.”
