Saturday night at the Eldora Speedway, Ian Madsen lived a dream of his as he raced his way to his first career victory at the Eldora Speedway during the Four Crown Nationals.

“It has always been a dream of mine to win at Eldora, and it is pretty cool to finally make that happen,” Ian Madsen said.

Timing his KCP Racing mount in ninth fastest in time trials, Madsen would pocket a second place finish during his heat race.

Earning a spot in the night’s Dash, Madsen would continue to run well at ‘The Big E’ as he would advance to third from his fifth starting spot, placing him in the second row for the 30-lap feature event.

Falling back to the fourth spot when the race came to life, Madsen would keep the lead trio of Randy Hannagan, Chad Kemenah, and Rico Abreu within striking distance as the field would battle through torrid traffic much of the night.

An extended green flag run would see Abrue would his way past Hannagan and Kemenah to take the second spot, where he would begin his attempt to chase down Rico Abreu.

Late in the race, Abreu would lose the handle in turns three and four and Madsen would be in the right place at the right time to take over the lead of the feature event. Nailing his restart with just two laps to go in the feature event, Madsen would fend off both Hannagan and Kemenah to claim his first ever Eldora feature event win, and his first All Star Circuit of Champions win of the 2016 season.

“I don’t think we had anything for Rico Abreu at the end, but in this sport you have to take them (wins) when you can get them,” Madsen added. “I have a great core group of guys out here with me, and a great group back at the shop.”
