Port Royal Honors Wagner With $55,000 Purse Dream Race For Sprints Saturday

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (July 21, 2017) – Port Royal Speedway will present the 11th running of the Living Legends Dream Race for 410 sprint cars coming up this Saturday, July 29 at 7 pm, with super late models also in action in an extra-distance, added purse event.

For the sprint car drivers and fans it’s a chance for something different.

Every driver that enters will get his share of the $55,000 purse money that is up for grabs plus thousands of dollars in contingency cash and prizes that gets handed out.

Every driver that enters will get a contingency prize out of a host of possibilities that includes free right rear Hoosier tires, a free steering pump rebuild, free nerf bars and bumpers, free engine dynos and gift certificates to DMI, Zemco Headers, Kreitz Oval Track Parts and Moose Blocks, plus much more.

Some $2,500 in contingency cash will be up for grabs as well as each lap of the semi-mains and the Dream A-Main will pay $10 to place first, second and third. Plus there is hundreds of dollars in hard charger and fast time money up for grabs.

For the fans, the race includes an innovative format that includes time trials but NO heat races. Instead, fans will be treated to a pair of 16-lap semi mains that carry separate, full payoffs before the big 35-lap, $10,000 to win Dream Race A-Main gets spun off.

The entire event is being run in honor of 2017 Living Legend Honoree Mike Wagner, who has sprinted at the speedway for more than 30 years, taking 11 career wins and two track titles.

Along the way fans will be treated to a pre-race autograph session with Wagner and several of his former car owners including Walt Dyer, Joe Harz, John Zemaitis and Bill & Kay Tanger, behind the grandstand from 5 – 6 pm.

Wagner’s No. 55 sprint car will also be on display.

The Dream Race late model fans will be treated to an extra-distance event on the night as well as the super lates compete in a 25-lap main event.

The stock car feature will pay $2,000 to win and $200 just to start.

A live radio broadcast with WQKX 94.1 FM will also take place from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, adjacent to the grandstand in conjunction with the big event.

Fans will get the chance to meet long-time 94KX radio personality Drew Kelly and play the Free Money Birthday Wheel.

Also, from 5 –6 pm on the stage behind the grandstand, fans will get the chance to see a live Facebook broadcast that will be carried live on the Beer Hill Gang Tv Facebook page.

The PA Sprint Car Live broadcast on the page will feature live interviews with Dream Race drivers.

Gates for the big event open at 4 pm with racing at 7 pm.

Adult general admission is set at $27 with students ages 12 – 18 priced at $10.
