Bergman Scores ASCS Red River Win at Creek County

CALIFORNIA, Mo. (July 25, 2017) – Seth Bergman returned to Victory Lane last Friday during an ASCS Red River Region event that kicked off a busy weekend.

“Our mission every race is to win,” he said. “We don’t have as many wins as we’d like this year so it was great to capitalize on a great draw, put together a good feature and end the night with a victory.”

Bergman kicked off the race last Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., by advancing from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. That earned a spot in the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 1 to start the main event on the pole.

“We had a good start to take the lead right away,” he said. “We maintained the top spot throughout the race. As the cushion went away it became trickier to run and I made a mistake on the last lap that got us into the wall. Kyle (Bellm) got a run on us and made it interesting in the final corner, but our momentum kept us out front.”

Bergman’s win was his second of the season and it marked his eighth consecutive top-10 result.

The team ventured to Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Saturday for an ASCS Warrior Region event, which began with Bergman placing sixth in a heat race. That locked him into the 16th starting position for the main event. Unfortunately, the night ended early for Bergman, who finished 22nd after contact with the wall rendered a DNF.

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Double X Speedway, where Bergman advanced from seventh to fifth place during an ASCS Warrior Region event. That lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the Clyde Wood Memorial A Main.

“We had a good race and I think if we started a couple of rows closer to the front we could have contended for the win,” he said. “There were a lot of slide jobs and we were able to work our way up to a third-place finish. It’s always a good weekend when you can start with a win and end with a podium.”

Bergman capped the weekend with a third-place result, which was his eighth podium of the season.

He will return to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, and Sunday at Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa. Bergman enters the weekend ranked sixth in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings.
