Sprint Car 101 features Bill Haglund on Thursday

Next Thursday’s free and open-to-the-public forum at the National Sprint Car Museum is entitled “Sprint Car 101: An Evening with Iowa racing historian Bill Haglund.” The program will start at 7 p.m. on the museum’s second floor. The first hour will focus on Bill’s life, his career in racing, and his new book, “Racing Through Time: A History of Automobile Racing in Iowa.” The second hour will feature a book-selling and book-signing opportunity for racing fans in south central Iowa.

Schatz named North American 410 poll driver of the year

For the eighth time in his career, Donny Schatz of Fargo, North Dakota, was voted the “Driver of the Year” by the North American 410 Sprint Car Poll voting panel of media members, promoters, sanctioning officials and manufacturers. The 2015 Knoxville Nationals winner, Chico Gold Cup Race of Champions winner and World of Outlaws (WoO) champion, earned all twenty-five (25) first-place ballots cast in the year-end poll.

Reutzel named 360 Driver of the Year by Sprint Car Poll

Aaron Reutzel of Clute, Texas, was voted the 2015 “Driver of the Year” by the North American 360 Sprint Car Poll voting panel of media members, promoters, sanctioning officials and manufacturers for the first time. Ruetzel, the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) national tour champion, earned seventeen (17) of the twenty-one (21) first-place ballots cast in the year-end poll. Aaron Reutzel earned the “Team of the Year” award, too. Finally, Aaron Reutzel will share the “Wild Card Award” for exciting sprint car performances with Morgan Turpen.

Ballou named North American non-wing driver of the year

Robert Ballou, originally of Rockin, California, today was unanimously named the 2015 “Driver of the Year” by the North American Non-Winged Sprint Car Poll voting panel of media members, promoters, sanctioning officials and manufacturers for the first time. The United States Auto Club (USAC) point champion earned all sixteen (16) first-place ballots cast in the year-end poll. The USAC Indiana Sprint Week champion also earned the 2015 non-winged sprint car “Team of the Year” award.
