Kraig Kinser Eyes Strong Finish to Close 2009 Outlaws Campaign

With the focus of this weekend’s World of Outlaws season-ending World Finals squarely on the closest title chase in the series’ 31-year history, it’s going to be tough for anyone other than the championship contenders to gain the spotlight. JUNIOR FOCUSES CLOSE OUT 2009 AT VENTURA NOVEMBER 21

Kyle Edwards of Fountain Valley, Calif. is set to put the cap on his 2009 USAC Junior Focus Series Championship November 21 when the series concludes at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. The race is party of the track’s “J.W. Mitchell Fall Classic” which also features the USAC Western Midgets in an event offering $5,000 to the winner.

WESTERN MIDGETS RESUME AT PHOENIX “COPPER WORLD” NOV. 12

Garrett Hansen of Manhattan Beach, Calif. continues to lead the USAC Western Midget Series, which joins the USAC Mopar National Midget Series for the November 12 “Copper World Classic” at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway. Hansen was seventh in Saturday night’s 50-lap race at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring and now leads runner-up Alex Schutte by 89 points in then latest standings.

The West Coast’s most famous hot dogs, Pink’s, will be available at the November 5th, 6th and 7th 14th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway. World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series At a Glance: World Finals

The 2009 season comes to a close for the World of Outlaws with the third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, November 5-7. The event kicks off with a night of qualifying on Thursday, followed by full racing programs on Friday and Saturday. Heading into the World Finals, three-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz has a 19 point lead over Jason Meyers in the series championship standings with two points paying events encompassing the World Finals, with third-place runner Joey Saldana 46 markers out of the lead and still mathematically eligible for the title. The finale of the World Finals will air live on SPEED on Saturday, November 7 beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Clauson’s Vegas victory narrows Driver of the Year point gap

Bryan Clauson has closed to within seven points of Brad Kuhn in the battle for the 2009 National Midget Driver of the Year Championship. Clauson narrowed the margin Saturday Night winning the 50-lap USAC Western Midget Car Series feature at The Bull Ring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, with five events remaining.

Rain Dampens SSP’s Candy Bowl V on Saturday for the Fourth Straight Year

Rain played a major role once again at the 5th Annual Candy Bowl presented by J&K Salvage of York held on Saturday, October 31. A slow drizzle began to fall during the Mini Van feature event. Track crews immediately began circling the track to keep it in racing shape and after a 45 minute delay, plans were in place to resume racing when a second band of showers developed out of nowhere just west of the track. When the second band hit, all hopes of completing the features on Saturday night were lost.
