David Gravel sure was glad to return to the track this past weekend and climb into his racecar and get back in the swing of things. He was able to make a pair of starts with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at Clay County Fair Speedway…

David Gravel got his first taste of qualifying for the main event of the Knoxville Nationals last year — and it left him wanting more. He will take to the track at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa this week for the 53rd Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals, which again this year will be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.

David Gravel has run pretty well on the smaller, high-banked bullrings with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series this season. He continued that trend at the quarter-mile LaSalle (Ill.) Speedway and third-mile Beaver Dam (Wis.) Raceway over the weekend, finishing eighth and seventh, respectively, at the pair of tracks that were part of a three-race swing through Illinois and Wisconsin aboard the FMR Racing/JRC Transportation/Musco Fuel/Model Craft J&J.

David Gravel certainly had his work cut out for him on Saturday night at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, in the Mediacom Shootout.

For the last few seasons, David Gravel has made just one trip a year to the Upper Midwest to race and that coincided with his annual visit to the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, for the Knoxville Nationals. This year, competing with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, he’ll have a handful of opportunities to race in that part of the country

When it came to time trials at the famed Eldora Speedway during World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events last year, no one had a better record than David Gravel.

Simply put, David Gravel had a battle on his hands all night at Salina Highbanks Speedway in the World of Outlaw STP Sprint Car Series event on Saturday, April 27.
