Watertown, CT — (August 13, 2013) — A case of mononucleosis has prevented David Gravel from competing in tonight’s scheduled World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb. The native of Watertown, Conn., looks to return to action with the series on Friday, Aug. 16 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. for the third round of the Gerdau Ameristeel Northern Tour.

Gravel, who was victorious last week on the opening night of the 53rd Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, is currently seventh in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship standings. He has earned 24 top-10 finishes this season, with seven of those being top-five showings. Gravel is the leading contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award with the World of Outlaws.
