Last week David Gravel competed on the largest two tracks that winged sprint cars race on — Rolling Wheels Raceway Park and Orange County Fair Speedway, each 5/8-mile in length and each located in New York.

Racers have to deal with fate and fortune every night they enter the track. One night fate takes away a great finish, and then a few nights later it turns bad fortune into good. This summarizes David Gravel’s runs with the World of Outlaws over the past week in New York, as he was running at the front at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, but had to settle for a mid-pack finish. Then after a difficult night at Orange County Fair Speedway, the Connecticut native had luck fall his way when a flat tire early in the event led to a Top-Five finish.

Horsepower is essential when competing at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park and Orange County Fair Speedway in New York. The pair of 5/8-mile venues are the largest tracks that winged sprint cars compete on.

Momentum and confidence go hand-in-hand in racing. David Gravel has plenty of both, following two nights of competition last weekend at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio with the World of Outlaws, which saw the 20-year-old set fast time in both races

To say that David Gravel knows how to put together a fast lap at Eldora Speedway is an understatement. In two nights, in two different cars, with two different engines, Gravel set fast time at the famed half-mile.

Even for racers first impressions are important. Eldora Speedway in Ohio is a track that David Gravel made a lasting impression at, as he will never forget his debut at the legendary venue with World of Outlaws in 2009.
