After a couple of frustrating weekends and some key setup changes, Scelzi scored a fifth-place result and earned the Hard Charger Award with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series last Saturday at Petaluma Speedway.
Scelzi made his season debut at the quarter-mile track on Friday during a local event. He qualified 14th quickest to make the heat race inversion and start on the pole of his heat.
After winning his heat race and finishing sixth last year during his first-ever Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial event, Scelzi and his Roth Motorsports backed entry will compete this Saturday with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series for the 24th annual Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif.
Scelzi is coming off his best career result with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series last Saturday at Calistoga Speedway, where he passed a race-tying high seven cars to place 16th.
Scelzi and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will invade the scenic half-mile track this Saturday and Sunday.
“We kinda fought the car and the motor all weekend long,” he said.
Scelzi, who has formed an alliance with Roth Motorsports, will be a full-time chaser of the King of the West Sprint Car Series championship for the first time.
