Scelzi, who has formed an alliance with Roth Motorsports, will be a full-time chaser of the King of the West Sprint Car Series championship for the first time.
Scelzi will make his debut at the 28th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire at Tulsa Expo Raceway in Tulsa, Okla., where he will pilot a Cole Wood Racing entry at the premier midget event next Tuesday through Saturday.
“I’d have to say winning my first 410ci race,” he said. “That really meant a lot to me. That’s something that I’ll have and be able to remember the rest of my life. I’ll never forget that and all the hard work that went into getting that win and how difficult it was to win that race. I feel that was the highest moment of the season.”
Scelzi will pilot a race car for Cory Kruseman during the season finale at Ventura Raceway in Ventura, Calif., which will mark his second time ever to the track and second time in a nonwing sprint car.
He opened the doubleheader at Lemoore Raceway on Friday by qualifying second quickest in a nonwing micro sprint for Pace Chassis owner Scott Coffman.
