CHICO, CA (02-2-11)…The Inaugural John Padjen Classic will take place Friday night, March 11, at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA. The race itself will feature the newly formed USAC Western Classic Racing Series, A Tribute to NARC, and the USAC/BCRA Midgets. The second night, March 12, will feature the greatest show on dirt, the World of Outlaws. An overwhelming positive response from fans has enthused promoter Dennis Gage and his staff. “We could not be more excited to have these distinctive and diverse open-wheel traveling series to jump start our 2011 opening weekend,” said promoter of Silver Dollar Speedway Dennis Gage. “I think the fans are excited to see the World of Outlaws, USAC Sprints, USAC Midgets and the Bay City Racing Association sanctioning bodies all lumped together for one big weekend of racing at the speedway.”

The WCRS will feature traditional style non-wing open wheel sprint car racing on both dirt and pavement in 2011. The engine package is very universal and accommodating to local winged sprint car teams. Basically any 360 cu. in. engine that is of stock production block design may be utilized as long as they conform to USAC rules. 410 cu. in. sprint cars are also welcomed to compete at this race and throughout their season. USAC will provide, free of charge, the necessary parts to restrict the 410 cu. in. motor at each track. Sprint cars will need to weigh 1400lbs. with driver. Hoosier right rear tire will be mandatory for the dirt races. For more in-depth information please contact Tommy Hunt at (916) 864-8722 or Silver Dollar Speedway at (530) 350-7275.

The Western Classic Racing Series, developed under the banner of USAC, is dedicated to paying tribute to those individuals who have distinguished themselves in the sprint car racing. In addition, it is the mission of WCRS to honor and acknowledge the “classic” history of sprint car racing by creating a “non-wing” racing series that is open to all sprint car competitors and participants. It is the vision of WCRS to bring together the past and present, resulting in a racing series that will help grow the professional sport of sprint car racing in the Western United States.

It made perfect sense to call the inaugural race, The John Padjen Classic, being that it is happening at the Silver Dollar Speedway. “I would like to thank Tommy Hunt and USAC for the honor of naming this first race after me,” said John Padjen. “It means a lot to me, my family and all the people that have worked for us throughout the years.”
