Attica, OH – (March 31, 2012) – Dale Blaney avoided an wild opening lap crash and out dueled Phil Gressman to pick up the 2012 season opening victory at Attica Raceway Park. Blaney regained the lead with a daring, three wide pass in turn four on lap 13 and motored on to the victory.

A pair of drivers named Chris, Myers and Andrews, started on the front row for the 25-lap feature event. The feature got off to a wild start when Andrews was tagged by Brian Lay on the start and caused a massive pile up on the front stretch that took out all of the cars in the first two rows before the flag stand. Lay flipped high into the hair with Jody Keegan also getting upside down. Greg Wilson, Stuart Brubaker, and Bryan Sebetto also suffered damage in the accident.

After the accident cleanup Blaney and Lee Jacobs started on the front row with Blaney taking the early lead. Gressman asserted himself early sweeping around Jacobs for second and setting out after Blaney. One lap later Gressman threw a slide job at Blaney for the lead. Blaney crossed over and pulled a wheel stand down the front stretch trying to counter. Gressman and Blaney continued to battle for one more lap before Gressman took the lead.

Gressman and Blaney continued to battle for the lead through lapped traffic until Gressman encountered the lapped car of Kris Spitz in turn four. Blaney saw the opportunity as Gressman had to hesitate and swept around the outside of both cars to take the lead on lap 13.

After a caution for debris Blaney continued to motor away from Gressman and Jacobs. Blaney encountered lapped traffic, but it was not a factor as Blaney motored to another victory at Attica. Gressman, Jacobs, Tim Shaffer from 13th and Danny Holtgraver driving Brian Grove’s #45 for the first time rounded out the top five.

Gressman, Sebetto, Lay, and Jacobs won heat race events for the 410 Sprint Cars. Caleb Helms won the B-Main event.
