Placerville, CA — (July 25, 2012) — It was the best against the west and for at least one night the west has won as Princeton, California’s Mason Moore picked up his first Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV victory with a win in the second annual Bullring Nationals at Placerville Speedway.

“I knew I was quick cause in lapped traffic when I was all over them. Once I got by Gary just a few laps in I was just hunting down Tony [Bruce] but I didn’t want to win that way. I would have rather passed him in traffic or something like that but a win is a win; I’ll take it.”

Drawing the number three pill in the redraw, Moore followed Tony Bruce Jr. and Gary Wright to the green. Called back for a false start, the Oil Medics No. 18 of Bruce would win the drag race to the inside groove entering turn one.

Pulling to a five car length advantage in very little time, Bruce would work into slower traffic on lap seven with the Moore Insurance Services No. 22 pulling up in a hurry before the caution waved for the Fatheadz Eyewear No. 99 after contact with another driver flattened Bacon’s left rear tire. Bacon would return to the track after going to the work area.

Restarting with eleven laps complete, the caution would be displayed again on lap thirteen for the spun No. 25 of Justin Johnson. Unable to return, Johnson would be credited with twenty-fourth.

Single file past the cone, the Pro Auto No. 18 of Tony Bruce Jr. continued to lead with Moore and Wright in tow. Racing again towards slower traffic, the red flag would be called for as a seven car pile-up ensued in turns one and two on lap seventeen; collecting Tony Bruce Jr. in the process.  Bruce was able to continue.

Taking the green for the final time in the evenings thirty lap affair, the Coors Light No. 22 of Moore would assume the lead.

Catching the back of the field with five laps remaining, Moore would have Gary Wright breathing down his neck but as the checkered flag fell the California driver would not be denied the win.

Gary Wright would hold on to second with Jason Johnson battling to third in the closing laps after an impressive run from fourteenth. Willie Croft claimed fourth with Johnny Herrera rounding out the top five.

Greg DeCaries crossed the line sixth with Nick Green seventh. Brad Loyet would take eighth from eighteenth after racing his way into the show via a B-Feature win with Wayne Johnson climbing from fifteenth to ninth and Jimmy Trulli rounding out the top ten.

The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV continues their west coast swing this Saturday July 28th at Kings Speedway in Hanford, California.
