Perris, CA — Bryan Clauson won the opening night of the Budweiser Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway in dominating fashion. Clauson pulled away to a big lead and held off Jon Stanbrough during a late race restart for the victory in his Parker Stone sponsored Gaerte powered Maxim Chassis.

Clauson moved up to the front row after Tony Jones stopped on the race track during the pace laps and was relegated to the tail of the field. Clauson took advantage of moving up to the front row and pulled away from the rest of the field.

Jon Stanbrough tried to close in during the late states of the feature, but could not close the gap and finished second. Levi Jones, Damion Gardner, and Rip Williams rounded out the top five.

“We were starting fourth behind Rip Williams, Tony Jones, and Garrett Hansen. I’m not sure what happened (with Jones), but it looked like he re-fired. It made our job a lot easier,” said Clauson. “We were fast yesterday in practice, and we installed a new dri-bar system on this thing tonight, and it works great.”

Stanbrough was disappointed with second place, but realized it was a great start to the weekend.

“I was a tight after the red, and I could not get into the corner as well as before the red,” said Stanbrough. “You have to fight the battle to get to the war, good night for points. I have to thank Terry Riggs and all the crew for helping and putting me in the car out here.”
