Farr Out Front In Toowoomba

After a tough two nights in Brisbane where he fell to third in the points chase Robbie Farr bounced back in the best possible way to win round 10 of the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship at the Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba.

However Max Dumesny and Brooke Tatnell finished right behind Farr so the points haul was not as much as the East Coast Pipeline team wished for. Farr remains in third with 1423 points, only 7 behind Dumesny but 54 behind leader Tatnell.

Farr jumped into the lead over Vortex Top 8 Shootout winner Jason Johnson at the start of the 30-lap feature event while behind Bryan Mann spun and Wayne Rowlett drove over the front of his Performance Wholesale machine and flipped. Cameron Gessner also rolled trying to avoid the carnage and Ricky Maiolo ploughed into the mess. Only the latter was able to continue, for a few laps anyhow pulling out on lap seven. American Brent Keading also retired with a flat left front tyre.

The race resumed and Johnson was pressuring Farr however on lap twenty-four Johnson spun, did a complete 360 and kept going but fell from second to fourth with Dumesny and Tatnell quickly filling the positions. Besides that places did not change at all throughout the field during the final ten laps.

The earlier pile up elevated World of Outlaws stars Danny Smith from ninth to fifth and Jason Sides from tenth to sixth where they remained. Kerry Madsen in the Todd Wanless #2 passed James McFadden for seventh on lap ten while Ryan Farrell remained in ninth and Scheuerle came from last to finish tenth to pick up the Hoosier Hard Charger Award.

During the heat races Bud Kaeding hit the turn two wall and rolled while Steve Caunt dropped a fuel line and had a spectacular fire caught by the on-board One HD camera. He returned for his second heat but burns to his hands were too sore to continue.
