RYAN LITT: KICKING OFF 2010 IN FLORIDA

by Tommy Goudge

(February 6, 2010) – London, Ontario racer Ryan Litt kicks off his 2010 season this weekend with a trip to Florida. Ryan will be back behind the wheel of the DeCaire Motorsports/Dirt Devil’s Speedway #41 for four races in eight days at three different venues with the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association Sprint Car series.

First up on Saturday night, February 7 is a date at Citrus County Speedway, where Ryan finished his 2009 season in November. On Sunday and Monday the teams will move to New Smyrna Speedway near Daytona Beach to take part in two rounds of the track’s annual World Series events. Next weekend it will be on to Desoto Speedway near Tampa for a Saturday night event.

“I feel really good going into Citrus,” says Ryan. “I know the track pretty well now and Terry (DeCaire) has been putting a lot of time into the car, so we should be good right out of the trailer.”

Ryan’s first visit to Citrus County didn’t produce great results, but it’s a track he now feels comfortable with after getting a race under his belt at the three-eighths mile.

“There isn’t a lot of opportunity for passing at Citrus, so I will be looking to get a good draw and start up front,” says Ryan. “Another positive is that I won’t have to start at the tail end (of heat races) any longer since I’ve run two TBARA races now. That should help us a lot.”

While Citrus County isn’t new to Ryan, the New Smyrna half mile and Desoto’s three-eighths mile track will be.

“I’m really pumped to race at New Smyrna,” says Ryan. “I have been told it’s a really fast track, and will suit my driving style.”

A lot goes into making a trip like this possible, and Ryan has many people he’d like to thank:

“I have to thank the whole DeCaire family – they have been really accommodating to me, letting me stay with them and picking me up at the airport,” says Ryan. “They are a great family and I’m really happy to be driving for them. I also owe a big thanks to BS&B Radiator, OTC Tools, and Huron Produce. They’ve sponsored my trip. Without them I would not be able to do this!”

Lots of preparation is already underway for the racing season up North as well. The new Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series is taking shape, and has many pavement sprint car racers excited for spring time.

“Once we get back from this trip we will be putting all of our time and effort into getting our new car ready for the opening MSR race at Salem,” says Ryan. “We are taking this year very seriously and we will be looking to be a contender at each event – hopefully coming out as the Xtreme Sprints Champion.”

The prize Ryan really has his eyes on is the Little 500 at Anderson Speedway. It will be the sixty-second running of the famous race, and the sixth one for Ryan as a driver.

“I’m looking for a good run at the Little 500. Each year we learn more and more. I think this year with our new car we will be one of the teams to beat.”

Plans for driving other types of race cars are coming together as well, including a possible first race for Ryan at a special track to him.

“If all things go as planned we may be at Oswego Speedway on Labour Day,” says Ryan.
