PENNGROVE, CA (2-7-10) – After her first time competing at the famous Chili Bowl in Tulsa, Oklahoma last month, open wheel racer Alissa Geving is will look to add more midget racing opportunities to her schedule in 2010. The Penngrove native is geared up for a busy year of racing ahead racing multiple venues in California both winged and wingless.

“I’m ready to get down to business again,” said eighteen-year-old Geving. “The trip to Tulsa was a great experience for me and I hope to have more opportunities such as that in the year to come.”

Geving was summoned to Tulsa, Oklahoma just a week prior to the famed indoor midget racing event that draws national attention and some of the best drivers in the world. It was the request of Chris Walker and the Bay Muffler racing team that brought the two time Petaluma Speedway track champion across the states for her first midget racing venue.

“I love it, I really want to thank Chris Walker and everyone from Bay Muffler who made that trip possible,” said Geving. “It was my first driving experience all on my own. Normally I have my family and my local sponsors helping me out at the track and this time it was just me. It was kind of scary going into it but I loved it once we got working together.”

Geving’s Chili Bowl debut put her on the track as early as Tuesday night during race week. In the third heat race of the night. An opening lap accident directly in front of her delayed her charge into the field during the preliminary event, however, she still rallied to the seventh position by the time the checkered flag flew.

Later in the evening the team competed in the C-main event as they begin their attempt for a solid position in the feature events on Saturday night. Starting fourth, Geving maintained her position and transferred into the following B feature where she finished 12th respectively.

“I really have to thank my teammate for the event Scott Pierovich,” added Geving. “This was my first time in a midget. Scott really helped me get comfortable with the physics of the car. I really enjoyed the great communication between the whole team.”

On Saturday night of the event, Geving was slated to start 6th in the G main event. During practice she had a slight brush with the wall causing minor damage that later resulted in a loss of starting position for the event. While it appeared all was repaired in time for a the race, a battery cable that was jarred loose from the incident and was not discovered until Geving was pushed off for the event and the car failed to fire.

After returning to the work area to make the repair, Geving was able to make the line up for the race but forfeited her starting position in doing so. Starting last in the event, Geving did what she does best and defeated adversity by passing as many cars as possible in the event. Unfortunately the team was unable to transfer into the next event after the opening lap set back.

“It was one of those things we just couldn’t overcome, but I had a blast passing as many cars as I could,” said Geving. “I’m looking forward to racing additional events with the Bay Muffler team this year.”

In 2010 Alissa Geving will compete for a third consecutive championship title in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Sprint Car Series. Additionally the Chick-O-Motorsports team will vie for the 2010 Civil War Sprint Car Series Championship and will also compete in select wingless races throughout the year including the USAC event slated for her home track in Petaluma in June.

“I’m really looking forward to it all, I wish we could start racing right now because I have never felt so motivated,” added Geving. “I really want to thank everyone involved for my opportunity in Tulsa including my local sponsors that helped get me there.”

Only one other person has claimed three consecutive championships at Petaluma Speedway, local favorite David Lindt Jr. Geving looks to join Lindt in the triple crown status and possible becoming the first female racer nationally to win three consecutive racing championships.
