Top 5 Result Goes Begging for Reidy

By Daniel Powell

Danny Reidy was on track during last Saturday night’s third round of the Southern Thunder Sprintcar Series at Collie Speedway in Western Australia only to have his run cut short when he was forced to retire with a blown head gasket.

The NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort / Titan Plant Hire supported J&J was running strongly during the feature race inside the top 5 up until its temperature ran too high and Reidy was forced to retire from the running.

“During our last couple of race meetings we have been chasing an overheating issue and we have changed radiators and a few other things and it hadn’t solved the drama,” Reidy explained. “Last Saturday night we discovered that it was the head gasket that caused all the overheating dramas. We’ll replace it during the week in time for next weekend’s King of Wings event and hopefully there isn’t any additional damage.”

Up until his retirement from the feature race Reidy had enjoyed a solid run which started off by qualifying fourth in time trials, then recorded a pair of fourth place finishes in his heat races and qualified for the feature race out of position five after his third place finish in the A Dash.

Like the majority of his rivals, it was Reidy’s first visit to Collie Speedway, which is located 2 hours south of Perth.

The annual King of Wings event at the Perth Motorplex (Kwinana, WA) this Friday and Saturday night (February 19 and 20) is the next event on the 09/10 season schedule for Reidy.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Baines Engines, Gonzo Racing Pipes, Camden Neon Signs and P&M Motor Body Repairs for all their support throughout the 09/10 season.
