FREMONT, Ohio – The 59th season opener for Fremont Speedway for Saturday, April 17, has been cancelled due to cold temperatures.

A cold front moved into the Fremont area Friday and brought with it strong winds and falling temperatures, prompting the decision to move the season opener to Saturday, April 24 on Fort Ball Pizza Palace Night with the 410 sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and the Fremont Fence dirt trucks along with the stocks.

“The wind in the morning was strong out of the north right into the stands. After consulting with meteorologist Norm VanNess, we determined that while the wind would diminish as the day went on, the temperatures would not rebound very much. In fact, temperatures will fall throughout the night into the 30s. That just isn’t a good situation for our loyal fans,” said Fremont Speedway Co-Promoter Rich Farmer. “And, these temperatures are very hard on race engines and we have a long summer ahead of us and we don’t want to put the teams in a bad situation.”
