August 17, 2010 – The annual “Night of the Twins” at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa commences this Saturday night, August 21. The event will also include the annual “Brian Hetrick Tribute”. In addition, “The Professor” Josh Schneiderman, fresh off his 13th place finish in the Knoxville Nationals Championship main event will be on hand!
A regular program for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders featuring heats, the Shake-Up Dash, the B feature and a main event will be run. Then we will invert the field and run them again!
Jerrod Hull took this season’s opener at the 34 Raceway, and the injured Wayne Johnson took the win there in May. Matt Rogerson leads all-time in wins for the Sprint Invaders at the 3/8 mile oval with five in his career. Hull (4), Bobby Mincer (3), John Schulz, Mike Houseman Jr. and Kaley Gharst (2) are the other multi-time winners at 34.
This marks the 25th career appearance for the Sprint Invaders in West Burlington, and the points have never been closer! The three-way battle atop the standings has been furious, and 2007 series’ champ “Showtime” Kaley Gharst leads Matt Sutton by just five markers heading in. 2002 and 2006 champion “Flyin’” Ryan Jamison is in third, only ten points behind the leader. With double points on the line Saturday, the action should be intense!
Schneiderman will be signing autographs, selling t-shirts and providing photo opportunities from 5-7 p.m. It’s your chance to get out and congratulate him on his great run from 23rd to 13th at the Nationals!
In addition, wear your Brian Hetrick t-shirt, and receive $2 off regular admission! The first 500 fans receive FREE coozies from Dirt, Dust and Speed, plus FREE DVD’s will be given out to some lucky fans!
Pit gates open at 4 p.m., with grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow!
