Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Invade Central NY; Brewerton and Fulton up Next!

By Dean Reynolds

SYRACUSE, NY – When the 2010 edition of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) schedule came out in February, one of the most welcome additions was the return to the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways. It’s the 27th anniversary and ESS is turning back the clock to two tracks where the successful 360 sprint car organization got their start.

The National Parts Peddler Newspaper and SUNY Canton are making a big presence at one of the most anticipated weekends of the 27 date tour 2010. Fans from Central NY will be in for a treat as one of the closest point battles in the history of ESS will be played out right to the final checkered flags.

It’s been since 1993 when Roger Horvath visited victory lane that the winged warriors of ESS will try to tame the D-Shaped Dirt Demon in Brewerton, NY. A field of over 30 sprints will be on hand for the historic visit. Walt Throne and his Walt’s Hobby is back to sponsor the Cobra Coaches Dash Series event in what will have be a fun night.

The next evening ESS will be back to the track where it ran their first ever race on Aug. 13, 1983, the Fulton Speedway. Bob Featherly etched his name in ESS lure with the first ever A-Main win. May of 2006 was the last time the Lucas Oil Tour has made its visit to the Oswego County oval. Crazy Gator Bar and Grill and Ken’s Mobil Repair will bring you the dash event on this night.

Coming into the weekend, two-time champion Steve Poirier has a slim five point lead over defending champ Justin Barger with former two-time champ and Quebec Nationals winner Lance Yonge just a mere 14 points out of the lead. Those stars along with Chuck Hebing, Dan Kaszubinski, Jeff Cook, Kevin Ward Jr. and Tommy Wickham who are currently in the top ten in points will be there.

Add to that, Brian McDonald, Michael Parent, Mike Stelter, Jason Barney, Shawn Donath, Dylan Swiernik, Zach Weigand, Devin Caron, Rick and April Wilson, Jami Russell, Shayne Ely, Dave Wickham, Lee Ladouceur, Tyler Rice, Paul Pekkonen, Mark Zemcik and others will be on hand.

Some surprises expecting to be on hand will be the return of Cory Sparks and he just might have Dave Camara as his teammate, New Jersey’s Davey Sammons will be in the field, Ryan Smith aboard the King #1K and looking for a ride is Northeast’s winningest modified driver Stewart Friesen.

Both tracks have set up special admission pricing with grandstands at $15, those that are 18 and under are admitted free with proper ID.

Central NY, are you ready for the invasion of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints?? It will be excitement guaranteed!!!
