(Terre Haute) Looking for a great way to spend Saturday afternoon?

Then look no farther than the Vigo County Fairgrounds and the IVY TECH Vintage Race Car Show that gets underway Saturday at 1pm.

The event, featuring the Midwest Oldtimers Vintage Race Car Club, gives fans young and old an opportunity to view more than two dozen vintage race cars up-close, while also getting the inside story on the competition history of the cars.

Among the featured attractions Saturday – the Elder Cadillac #55 sprint car owned by Bob Elder of Belleville, Illinois. It’s the last known sprint car driven by Jim Hurtubise at the Action Track in October of 1976. Cars driven by Tom Bigelow, Gary Bettenhausen, Larry Rice and George Snider will also be on hand for the Action Track event.

Also expected to be on display…the Sumar Streamliner copy that was recently commissioned by former Sumar team co-owner Don Smith, along with the #56 Sterling Plumbing car that was also campaigned by Jim Hurtubise.

Vintage displays will open to the public Saturday from 1-6pm. The IVY TECH Vintage Race Car Show is free and open to the public.

The First Financial Bank Jim Hurtubise Classic presented by Dorsett Mitsubishi is set to take place Saturday night at the Terre Haute Action Track. The track ticket office opens Saturday at 3p, with fan gates set to open at 4p. USAC National Sprint Car hot laps are set to take the green flag at 6p.
