Crawley captures 3rd Gumbo Nationals USCS Sprint crown

Greenville, MS – November 6, 2010 – Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas captured his third United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear Gumbo Nationals sprint car title at Greenville Speedway on Saturday night. Crawley chased 2006 USCS Rookie of the Year, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas for the first six-laps before making a pass on the Arkansas young gun in turn four for the lead on lap seven. He then raced his way to victory lane over the final twenty-three laps in the Ward Racing Boatersports sponsored #88 sprint car. It was Crawley’s eighth USCS feature win of the 2010 season.

Greg Wilson from Benton Ridge, Ohio passed Hagar for the runner-up spot on lap fourteen and took up the chase for the leader (Crawley). During the final ten laps Wilson closed to within two car lengths and even showed Crawley the nose of his car several times before finishing a half car length behind Crawley at the checkered flag. Hager held onto the final show position in third place. Hagar was followed by current USCS National point’s leader, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who finished in fourth place. The 2007 USCS Rookie of the Year, Don Young, also from Bartlett, Tennessee, rounded out the top five drivers.

The 2009 USCS Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver from Drummonds, TN was sixth at the finish, followed by series past Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas who finished seventh. Michael Miller from Ocean Springs, Mississippi was in eighth place. Cody Gardner from Benton, Arkansas followed in ninth place and Justin Sturch also from Benton, Arkansas rounded out the top ten drivers.

Justin Carver kicked off the evening’s action by winning the six-lap Goodyear Speed Dash. Derek Hagar won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Terry Gray won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat and Tim Crawley won the Schoenfeld Headers Third Heat Race. Marshall Skinner passed fourteen cars in the main event to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award. Jerod Roller from Nesbit, Mississippi garnered the Rookie of the Race honors and Derek Hagar was the top finishing Young Gun.

The United Sprint Car Series concludes it’ 2010 season next weekend racing for $10,000 on Friday and Saturday, November 12th and 13th in the $50,000 USCS Fall Nationals 2010 at historic Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas Speedway.

The action packed USCS Fall Nationals racing program also includes the USCS Outlaw Modifieds, P.R.O. Dirt Car Series Super Late Models, Riverside Stock Cars and Winged 600cc Mini/Micro Sprints.
