In what was his final hit out before the ‘Speedweek’ Series leg of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship begins later this month, Danny Reidy last Saturday night finished with an eighth place feature race finish at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.

The NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported Eagle driver admitted that although he didn’t make the best of starts from position 10 in the feature race field for the fifth round of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series. However, Reidy, who had earlier in the night qualified sixth in time trials and then finished in third and seventh place in his two heat races, was able to finish strongly and greeted the chequered flag in eighth place.

“I managed to finish strongly, but it was just a little too late to pick up a higher result,” said Reidy, who was hampered throughout the feature race with a lack of vision out of one eye due to a small rock flying up and getting caught in it leading up to the start. “The rock in my eye bothered me as I only had pretty much vision out of one eye through the whole feature race, but towards the end it didn’t seem to bother me too badly.”

With another Top 10 result in the bag, Reidy is now busy preparing for the hectic Christmas / New Year period with the continuation of the WSS Championship through the hectic ‘Speedweek’ Series that begins on Boxing Night (December 26) at Adelaide’s Speedway City in South Australia.

“Speedweek is always tough, but what makes it tougher is the increased competition and the successive nights of racing,” Reidy commented, who currently sits 11th in the WSS Championship point standings. “Speedweek plays a vital part to anyone’s World Series Championship, as it either makes or breaks your campaign.”

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
