Tough Luck in WoO Opener

From CDR

Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team were back in action Friday at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida to open the 2011 World of Outlaws season.

When time trials got underway, the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim was the fourth car out to qualify and turned a strong lap of 13.328 seconds around the half-mile which was 9th fastest among the 35 cars competing. Lining up on the outside pole for heat race one, Dollansky got a strong start to lead the field into turn one and never look back as he led all eight laps. The dash race was the next event for the Aeroquip Performance Products sponsored sprinter. Lining up fifth for the six lap race to set the grid for the main event, Dollansky lost one position to teammate Sammy Swindell and would finish 6th.

On the initial start of the feature, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ was up to fourth but a caution before one lap was complete would relegate the strong start. When racing resumed, Dollansky got past teammate Swindell until another caution came out, this time with one lap complete. On lap thirteen, Danny Lasoski blew a left rear tire right in front of Dollansky and the two made contact but the #7 was able to continue. Dollansky raced closely with Jason Meyers as the laps started to wind down until three laps to go when something broke from the contact earlier with Lasoski sending Dollansky flipping into the wall and erasing what would have been a top ten finish. “It wasn’t the way we wanted to start the season but we’ll be back at it tomorrow. We’ve been fast all three nights so far and will overcome it”, commented Dollansky.

The 40th Annual DIRTcar Nationals continue on Saturday with the second night of the World of Outlaws season.
