SYRACUSE, NY – As the 29th season for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) gets closer to their opening event, the popular sprint car organization is pleased to announce that Northwood 2 Construction/LaSalle Motorsports is back as the title sponsor for the Canadian Sprint Car Series. The series will consist eight events at six different tracks with a lucrative point fund once again waiting the teams at seasons end.
“We are so excited to have Lori and Mike LaSalle back for a third year as the title sponsor of the Canadian Sprint Car Series.” said ESS President Chuck Miller. “The Canadian point fund has been key to boosting the car counts north of the border. Each year more Americans have headed north and last year we actually set some car count records.”
The closing of Autodrome Edelweiss was a big loss to the ESS tour but in agreement with the LaSalle’s it has been decided to add the events at Can-Am Motorsports Park to the Canadian Series. This way, there will be more events to make the series a bigger attraction and by being just 10 minutes from the border it’s a perfect fit.
Joining Can-Am will be the events at Autodrome’s Granby and Drummond, Le RPM Speedway, Mohawk International Raceway and show-up points for the annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals held at the Ohsweken Speedway.
Last year, Steve Poirier claimed the title over Justin Barger, Lance Yonge, Alain Bergeron and Dan Kaszubinski. These stars look to again be in the title fight along with 2009 champ Jeff Cook, Chuck Hebing, Michael Parent, Kevin Ward Jr., Chris Jones, Tommy Wickham and many others.
The Lucas Oil Tour is set to kick off Saturday evening April 30th at Can-Am and has a total of 29 dates at 17 great dirt tracks in two states and two Canadian provinces. Fans can get the first glimpse at the ESS stars and cars March 12 and 13 with the annual Motorsports Expo in Syracuse, NY.
