BCRA Midgets Kick off the 2011 Racing Season Friday March 11, 2011 in Chico, CA

The famed Bay Cities Racing Association kicks off its 71st year Friday March 11, 2011, at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, running as part of the Mini Gold cup Weekend. The event, a salute to long time promoter John Padjen, will be co-sanctioned with the USAC Western States midgets.

Defending champion Nick Foster, Jr. from San Jose is scheduled to wheel one of the Chris Walker/Bay Muffler Stealth/Esslinger midgets. Along with Nick, the 2009 champion David Prickett of Fresno, in the #15 Spike/Van Dyne Neverlift Motorsports ride, many time champion Floyd Alvis, in the Champion Automotive Stealth/Esslinger, Greg Bragg in the Dave LaMott Honda/TCR, Alamo’s Scott Pierovich in the Lance Pierovich Spike/Wirth Mopar, Bakersfield’s Shannon McQueen, campaigning the McQueen Spike/Esslinger, 2007 BCRA champion Justin Grant piloting the Dave Thurston Spike/Esslinger, 2010 Rookie of the year, Chico’s Dillon Silverman in the RAM racing Spike/RRE Chevy, Fremont’s Shane Golobic piloting Doug Bock’s Spike/Esslinger and Britton Bock piloting his own Spike/Esslinger are among the many BCRA midgets expected to compete. Brothers Tanner and Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, National USAC Midget champion Bryan Clauson of Noblesville IN, cousin’s Jake and Cody Swanson and Chico’s Robbie Whitchurch are just a few of the USAC midgets expected.
Grandstands open at 5pm with qualifying at 6pm and racing at 7pm.
