Ocean Speedway – Saturday April 23

What:

John Prentice’s Ocean Speedway will be next up for the Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series this Saturday night April 23. The track has grown to be one the premier sprint car venues on the West Coast over the last few seasons and this weekend will be the first of four events this year for KWS at the facility.

When:

An earlier start time will be in place on Saturday with the pit gate open at noon, front gate opening at 3pm, drivers meeting at 3:45, wheel packing at 4, qualifying around 4:45 and racing to follow.

Where:

The Ocean Speedway is located on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, two miles east of Watsonville, California on SR 152. The physical address is 2601 East Lake Ave, Watsonville, CA 95076.

Tickets:

Adult tickets cost $20, children 6 to 12 will be $15, seniors 65 and older are $18 and kids five and under will be free. A family pack featuring two adults and two children will be available for $55.

About the track:

The Ocean Speedway is semi-banked quarter mile clay oval with the Golden State 410 Series track record being 11.496 set by Jonathan Allard on August 8, 2009. The all-time track record was set by Mark Kinser in 2000 with a blistering 10.949.

Last April at the Ocean Speedway:

Campbell’s Bud Kaeding won a thrilling Golden State 410 Series main event at the Ocean Speedway last April. The three-time USAC Silver Crown champion passed father Brent Kaeding for second with 10-laps left in the feature and then made the winning move around Kyle Larson on lap-24. Larson came home a close second, with Tommy Tarlton third, Brent Kaeding fourth and Peter Murphy rounding out the top-five.
