HALEY AND MIRANDA ARNOLD PICK UP TOP 10s AT LAKE OZARK

– ELDON, Mo. (May 2) – A big smile and a sigh of relief best summarizes the weekend for Haley and Miranda Arnold Motorsports.

Oh, and throw in Haley’s patented two thumbs up.

“It was a great weekend for Haley and Miranda Arnold Motorsports,” she said.

In her first 305 race of the season, Haley finished second at L A Raceway in La Monte, Mo., on Friday. She then capped the weekend with a sixth-place finish at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Saturday – her first top 10 of the season in a 360.

Miranda, who was Haley’s crew chief on Friday, overcame a handful of issues on Saturday to transfer out of the B Main and drive from 18th to fourth in the feature at Lake Ozark Speedway – her first top five of the year.

“I was trying so hard,” Miranda said. “I was driving the wheels of it.”

The weekend didn’t start out with a good sign as the power steering line broke in Haley’s car Friday night during hot laps. Despite that setback, she drove from sixth to second in her heat race after fixing the issue.

That earned her the outside pole for the feature. She battled for the lead early before falling back by half a straightaway. However, Haley closed the gap in the final laps before running out of time to challenge for the win.

“We got close toward the end,” she said. “If we had a few more laps and a caution, maybe I would have been able to win.

The momentum carried into Saturday’s race for Haley, who finished third in her heat race and avoided disaster in the feature to place sixth.

“To be honest, it was one of those tracks that I was just glad we survived,” she said. “Turns one and two had the biggest monster hole that took everyone out. If you survived, you were lucky.”

Miranda’s early trouble was that she couldn’t get on the track. The car wasn’t running properly, which forced her to miss hot laps and her heat race.

That relegated her to the B Main, which she drove from fifth to third – without a working right front shock – to earn a transfer. Miranda started 18th in the wild main event.

“My night started out pretty bad,” she said. “I just kinda kept my cool. I like tacky tracks. It was my first night being on a track that rough, so I was pretty excited for that. And I like to start at the back. I think that pushed me a lot.”

Evidently so. While cars were flipping or staying on the bottom to avoid the ruts, Miranda was driving through the middle and she worked her way up to a battle for third place at the end of the race.

“I didn’t really change much all night because I didn’t have enough time,” she said. “The car felt good in the feature. I was making the middle work in turns one and two.”

Fresh off their top 10s, Haley and Miranda plan on returning to Lake Ozark Speedway to race this Saturday.
