Mediacom Shootout at Knoxville Recap

From CDR

The Big Game Treestands #7 team returned to Knoxville Raceway this past weekend for the first time since last years Knoxville Nationals when Dollansky charged from 24th up to 4th. What was originally scheduled as two nights of racing turned into just one as Mother Nature washed out Friday’s program at the world famous half-mile.

A much better day on Saturday saw sunny weather and 36 sprinters take qualifying time trials as the drivers battled a technical racing surface and Dollansky turning the 20th fastest lap at 16.075 seconds aboard the Aggressive Hydraulics backed Maxim. Missing the inversion by four positioned ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ fifth in the final heat race where he would transfer into the main event by finishing 5th.

In the 25-lap A-Main the Karavan Trailers #7 started inside row ten and had plenty of ground to make up. The racing surface that plagued numerous drivers in the heat races continued to prove difficult in the feature as well as three cars hooked the tricky cushion in turns 1 & 2 and got upside down on the opening lap. The ensuing restart would move Dollansky up to the sixteenth spot for the start but when the green flag waved the #7, and the #11 of Steve Kinser, drifted a little too high in the opening corner and both drivers hooked the cushion, bicycling their sprinters, and flipped. Although the flip wasn’t severe, the damage sustained was enough to retire Dollansky from the event.

Bullring action awaits the Big Game Treestands #7 team this coming Friday as they head to the nine second lap River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota for two events.
