LAWTON, Okla. (July 16, 2011) – Danny Wood picked off his second American Sprint Car Series Regional win in as many weekends by topping Saturday night’s 25-lap feature event pitting the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region vs. The Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star Region atop the ¼-mile Lawton Speedway red clay oval.

The veteran shoe from Norman, OK, took advantage of some early pacesetters misfortunes en route to taking the $2,000 win aboard the Fisher-powered State Wide Service Center/D&J Land No. 81 J&J.

While Wood started the feature event from the front row outside, pole starter and current Lone Star points leader Matt Covington paced the early circuit until tangling with a lapped car and spinning.

Current Sooner Region points leader Joe Wood, Jr., assumed the point only to suffer a similar fate in the waning laps.

Danny Wood took the lead position and paced the final circuits to take the win in front of Travis Rilat, with Andy Shouse, Michelle Decker and 24th-starter Koby Barksdale rounding out the top five.

Defending Lone Star champion Eric Baldaccini was sixth, with Jesse Frazier, Michael Lang, Joe Bob Lee and Rick Wright, Jr., completing the top ten.

Baldaccini, Joe Wood, Jr., Rilat and Covington topped heat race action, with Kyle Bellm winning the “B” Main. Bellm was one of six cars sidelined in an opening lap feature crash that included a total of eight different cars. Others sidelined included Claud Estes, Dale Wester, Robert Byrom, Kolt Walker and Dustin Morgan.

Cameron Hagin flipped in heat race action, while Sean McClelland, the June 4 Sooner Region feature winner at Lawton, suffered engine problems in his heat race. Both were done for the night.
