The narrow highbanks of Antioch Speedway was next up for the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they wrapped up racing on the West Coast with the first ever appearance by the World of Outlaws at the 3/8-mile track in Antioch, California.
After getting up to speed in hotlaps, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ found the fast way around the track in qualifying by posting the 5th fastest lap among the 30 cars assembled. Starting from third in the second heat race, Dollansky raced closely with Steve Kinser but finished 4th to transfer into the dash by virtue of his strong qualifying efforts. Early evening luck was in the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 sprinters favor for the dash as an inversion of six pitted Dollansky on the outside pole where he would motor into the lead and seize the point all 6 laps to capture his third dash victory of the season.
Starting from the prime position for the 30-lap A-Main, Lucas Wolfe got the early jump to lead the field into turn one with the Karavan Trailers Maxim running second. Wolfe and Dollansky, who was running on seven cylinders, would set a fast pace as they started to encounter lapped traffic until tough luck struck Wolfe when Andy Gregg spun and collected the #5W. ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ would assume the lead and open up a half second lead as the feature approached the halfway point. While battling through lapped traffic Steve Kinser and Kyle Larson started to narrow the gap until lap 26 when Kinser pulled alongside Dollansky. As Kinser and Dollansky raced into turn one, Kinser made a bonsai move under a lapped car moving the slower car up the track and into Dollansky who was trying to race around the outside but contact sent the #7 flipping. Although Dollansky led the most laps during the feature and was lightning fast all night the final result wouldn’t show it as he was credited with the 24th position.
A lengthy trip of 1800 miles now awaits the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they travel from ‘The Golden State’ to ‘The Hawkeye State’ where action continues at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa on Friday, an event that Craig and wife Julie will again promote for the fifth straight year.
