ROSSBURG, OH (Nov. 28) – Through their annual ‘Pack the Pantry’ gathering, Eldora Speedway staff members and vendors were able to donate nearly $8,500 in cash and non-perishable items to two area food banks, according to Eldora’s concession manager, Todd Stucky.

“With our proximity to Darke and Mercer Counties, we again chose to split the proceeds and distribute our efforts to CALL Ministries in Celina (OH) and FISH Choice Pantry in Greenville (OH)” stated Stucky, “and they were flattered with the donations.”

Continued Eldora’s Larry Kemp, “the Pack the Pantry event is something our dedicated crew looks forward to every year, and it shows by the outpouring of support. Yes, it gives us a chance to gather together at the end of the season, but more importantly, it creates a ‘feel good’ moment for us; to be able to reach out and help those that may be less fortunate”.

Orchestrated by Stucky, the November 19 event in the Eldora Ballroom, was attended by over 160 people. In addition to the 12 shopping carts of canned and non-perishable goods, cash proceeds were raised via an auction of donated items from area merchants and Eldora Speedway vendors.

“We are grateful to our vendors and suppliers that have reached out for such a great cause”, concluded Stucky.

Eldora Speedway recently concluded their 58th consecutive season of racing action, with the team already busy putting the finishing touches on next year’s agenda. Advance tickets for Eldora’s 2012 major events, including the Prelude to the Dream, Dirt Late Model Dream, Kings Royal weekend and World 100 go on sale beginning this Saturday (Dec. 3).
