Tulsa Oklahoma (April 23, 2012) – The Oil Capital Racing Series is pleased to announce the addition of two additional 2012 tour dates towards the run for the series championship. The first added date to the schedule is on Saturday night May 5th as the OCRS warriors will make their first stop of the season at the Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville Oklahoma. This will be an addition to the July 7th date that was on the originally released schedule. MAS recently entered into a management realignment structure. The track is now in a co-promotion endeavor with previous promoter Kenny Gariss bringing in Bill McMurtrie as his co-promoter. “I have known of Bill McMurtrie’s previous auto racing promotion work and he has done well”, said series president Barry Grabel. “We have always had a good working relationship with Mid-America under Kenny Gariss and I believe everything will run just a smoothly as in previous seasons under the new alignment.”
The second added date will also be at MAS and it will take place on Saturday night October 6th. The three MAS dates for 2012 is an increase over the solo event the track hosted in 2011 where Collinsville Oklahoma’s Dean Drake Jr. pulled off an upset win over Andrew Deal, Rafe Essary, Mike Goodman and Sean McClelland. The win was Drake Jr’s first career OCRS victory. MAS held four OCRS events in 2010 with Travis “Hollywood” Jenkins, Rafe Essary and Jamie Passmore (Twice) collecting mantle bound hardware.
The added dates bring the current number of booked events to 21 with more dates with area tracks pending. The 2012 OCRS racing season is sponsored by a bevy of quality sponsors. The current sponsor line-up includes:
