Mercer, PA (September 1, 2012): With the Patriot Sprint Tour on the track for the start of the feature event, a rain shower hit Mercer Raceway Park, forcing a cancellation of the show. The program will not be made up. There will be no refunds. Rain checks and pit wristbands will be honored next Saturday, September 8, for the Meet Your Heroes Night/Tribute to Cowboy Brian Steinman/American Cancer Society Night, or on September 21, which is night number one of the 13th Annual Little Guys Nationals.

The only feature racing to be completed were the bicycle races for the children presented by Ray’s Racing Collectibles and Approved Toilet Rentals. Officiating for those races was the Mercer County Dairy Princess, Delanee David. Children received free milk. A bicycle was given to alucky child by Coca-Cola, and plenty of other prizes were handed out to the children.

The heat races were completed for all racing divisions before the rains came. Points will be awarded for those events, meaning that all drivers in the Saturday Night Live! six racing divisions will have one last shot to gather points toward the seasonal championships. Indeed, the Spetember 8 races will carry double Points! So, the championships are still undecided.

Taking the heats in the Patriot Sprint Tour were George Suprick, Scott Kreutter and Jamie Collard. The dash winner was Tim Kelly.

In the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds, Frank Guidace and current points leader Rob Curtis prevailed.

The Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warrior heat victors were Andy Feil and Mike Miller. Points leader Joe McEwen got a boost toawrd his championship when second-place man Rob Felix was unable to enter the event due to crash damage at another area speedway.

Bob McCann and Russ Byler took the checkers in the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars. Points leader Rusty Moore will lead that class next Saturday in the quest for back-to-back points titles.

The Modified Lites had Cody Bova and George Englert won the preliminaries. Mark Marecucci will take the helm for the final night of points racing in the class sponsored by Big Daddy’s Speed Center and Rock Concrete.

The Mini Stock heat winners were Rudy Troples for the second week in a row and Todd Gabriel. Steve Longwell, Jr. will be looking to secure his first points title next week.

Replacing the Patriot Sprint Tour in the line-up for September 8 will be the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars! Eric “Turkey” Williams will try to gobble up the competition. He has the advantage heading into the final showdown for the 410 Sprinters.

Remember that September 15 will see no action on the oval. Instead, the fun will be had in the pulling pit. That night, it will be the USA East Regional Final Fall Nationals Truck & Tractor Pull.

And, coming up September 21 and 22 will be the extravaganza known as the Little Guys Nationals! Registration forms are available on the Mercer Raceway Park website or by contacting the track office. There is a pre-race discount for early registration.
