From Sydney Speedway
Sydney, AU — (October 13, 2012) — Mitchell Dumesny found a line that no one else did to claim an exciting victory in the Valvoline sponsored City of Parramatta Classic tonight at Sydney Speedway. Second to the finish line was Ian Madsen and Gary Brazier was third.
In front of a massive season opening crowd, Madsen stormed to the lead and was being chased hard by sprintcar comeback kid, Craig Brady before Brady found the outside rear of another car and flipped hard out of the event.
From that point on, Mitchell Dumesny began to make his march forward and right on half race distance, pounced on Madsen to take the lead.
A late race caution with five laps to go led to the discovery of a fast deflating left rear tyre however, that did not prove any issue as he raced away for the win.
At the presentation Mitch was thankful to all of his crew and family but also dedicated his win to a dear family friend.
“I want to dedicate this win to ‘Titch’ who passed away recently,” said an elated Mitchell.
“Titch was a very close family friend and I am glad I won tonight.”
Rounding out the top ten in the A-Main was Darryl Campbell in fourth; Grant Tunks in fifth, Ben Atkinson, James Thompson, Damian Abbott, Max Johnston and speedcar star Matt Smith did a stellar job to finish tenth.
In the Wingless division, Kyle Pollock took the feature win from Brian Briton and Daniel Flood.
Brett Morris claimed yet another Legend Cars A-Main from John Morris and Linden Martin.
Stuart Strickland won the Fender Bender A-main after an exciting night with plenty of upside down action.
The next meeting on the Sydney Speedway calendar is next Saturday night, October 20 when the Late Models, Speedcars and Street Stocks make their season debut. The Fender benders are also on the program.
