From Eldora Speedway
Rossburg, OH — (December 6, 2012) — Eldora Speedway’s 60th consecutive year of racing will again have a strong open wheel flavor, as the alphabet soup of sanctioned Sprint Car racing that Eldora has come to be known for, continues into 2013. The mix includes World of Outlaw STP Sprint Car Series (WoO), UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC), United States Auto Club (USAC) and National Racing Alliance (NRA).
Leading the 2013 WoO invasion into Eldora, and their five sanctioned events will be the 30th annual Kings Royal weekend; complete with the ceremonial crowning and the traditional $50,000 payday, July 12 and 13. The coast-to-coast touring group will also make Eldora stops on May 3 & 4 and then again for crown number one of the 32nd annual Four Crown Nationals on September 20.
Exciting news on the All Star front is the return of Eldora into the storied Ohio Sprint Speedweek on June 22, a stop that has been absent since 2009. The Midwest based troupe will close out their season, along with Eldora’s, as part the UNOH Sprintacular on October 12.
Joining the Sprintacular will be the NRA Sprint Invaders in their fourth 2013 appearance. Dates prior to that include the Johnny Appleseed Classic on May 26 as well as the Kings Royal weekend, July 12 and 13.
For the traditionalists, USAC and their non-winged style of Sprint Car racing will return as a component of the 2013 slate. Considered to be the ‘elder statesman’ of Sprint Car racing on the high-banks of Eldora with their rich 51-year history, the USAC National Sprint tour will be featured on April 20 and again during the Four Crown Nationals on September 21 when they join their brethren USAC Midget and Silver Crown divisions for an all open-wheel weekend.
The variety of Sprint Car sanctioning bodies continues to be a key component into the venerable speed plant’s reputation as a special event facility catering to a multitude of race fans’ favored divisions.
Finishing touches are being put on the complete 2013 bill of fare and will be released shortly on the track’s website www.EldoraSpeedway.com, along with Facebook and Twitter. Fans can order seats and campsites to the majority of Eldora’s events, including the Kings Royal, Dirt Late Model Dream and World 100, from the comfort of their home via the website, or by calling the speedway office at (937) 338-3815. Tickets for the Inaugural Mudsummer Classic featuring the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (July 24) will go on sale, in the same manner, at 10 a.m. on January 5, 2013.
