Tulsa, OK — (January 14, 2013) — Following the success of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV at Cocopah Speedway in 2012, the 2013 season will feature a pair of events at the 3/8 mile Somerton, Arizona oval.
With the promise of great reward, Director of Operations for the Cocopah Speedway, Greg Burgess, has unveiled the Cocopah Cup Challenge, featuring a $10,000 and $20,000 payday for the drivers of the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV at the begin, and end, of the 2013 National Tour schedule.
Following the 2013 National Tour openers at the Tucson International Raceway on February 22nd and 23rd, the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV will head west with dates at the Cocopah Speedway slated for March 1st and 2nd.
Situated a quarter mile from the Cocopah Casino, the Cocopah Speedway will open the two day event with a $3,000 payday on Friday March 1st followed by Saturday’s Championship event on March 2nd paying a $10,000 bounty.
The Season ending events on Friday November 8th and Saturday November 9th will, like the March dates, begin with a $3,000 winner’s check on the Friday night program followed by Saturday’s Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV Season Final paying a staggering $20,000 to win.
On top of the two lucrative paydays, a $5,000 bonus has been put up to any driver that can sweep all four nights of the Cocopah Cup Challenge events.
Both events will feature afternoon press conferences followed by the much anticipated Fanfest Parties on the lawn of the Cocopah Casino. Live music, refreshments, driver introductions, and meet and greets will be a part of the Fanfest events.
Fanfest for the March dates will happen Thursday February 28th. Fanfest for the November dates will be held Thursday November 7th.
Also a part of the Cocopah Casino will be the 2013 Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV Awards Banquet that will happen on Sunday November 10th.
In anticipation of the 2013 events at the Cocopah Speedway, renovations of the Grandstands have been ongoing and will feature not only added seating but added comfort for all who attend.
