With the event last year held on the inner 3/8-mile, the series returned to the larger ½-mile as the race program got underway with qualifying as Dollansky stopped the clock 13th fastest at 15.176 seconds. Missing the heat race inversion by just one spot meant the Elk River, Minnesota native would start inside row three for heat one where the MobileStar Maxim finished 6th.
Starting mid-pack inside row seven of the 30-lap A-Main, Dollansky fan fourteenth before the first yellow on lap 3 and then moved up three spots before another caution ten circuits later. A great double-file restart saw ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ power into the top-ten taking ninth and up one more position before the next yellow was displayed at the halfway point on lap 15. The ensuing restart was another great one for the pilot of the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 as he motored around Kerry Madsen and Jason Sides on the highside to take fifth and then advance one more position in the final fourteen circuits as the Big Game Treestands backed sprinter took the checkered flag in 4th.
“We put ourselves in the hole in qualifying but we were able to at least salvage a top-five finish out of it,” commented Dollansky who earned the KSE Hard Charger. “We need to get ourselves consistently qualified stronger which has been our weak point this year and the opposite of our qualifying efforts over the past few years. We will continue working to get ourselves where we need to be when it comes to qualifying and as we continue to work to get our car handling better then we will benefit from it in qualifying.”
The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team returns to action this coming Wednesday, June 5th, at Kokomo Speedway in Indiana..
