Port Royal – Following an Appalachian Dirt Late Model Speedweek show on Tuesday June 4, Port Royal Speedway will present the USAC Eastern Storm for wingless 410 sprint cars this Saturday, June 8 at 7 pm.

Joining the powerful USAC stars will be the equally wingless ARDC Midgets along with the pro stock division. Port Royal Speedway Logo

The USAC main event will be 30 laps in distance, paying $6,000 to the winner of the lucrative race.

It will also be EMMR/Penn Central Racing Reunion night with dozens of restored racecars on display before and during the special event.

All of the restored cars on display will be afforded track time at intermission.

The 2013 Founders Awards will be presented at the track to reunion co-founder Joe Lingle and to the first Port Royal Penn Central winner, Elmer Gray.

Penn Central was the sanctioning body that conducted weekly auto racing at Port Royal Speedway during the 1950s and early 1960s.

The first 35 antique racers put on display this year will receive dash plaques sponsored by TQ Fiberglass of McVeytown.  The plaques will be in honor of Ed Stimely Sr.

Last year, California’s Damion Gardner scored the inaugural show in history for USAC at the track while Bryan Clauson set fast time and took the overall Eastern Storm series title.

Adult general admission for the show is $25 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for just $5.

This week’s USAC/Penn Central/EMMR/ARDC program at Port Royal Speedway is a can’t miss for dirt track racing fans, highlighting the history and roots of racing not only in the region and at Port Royal but in sprint car racing in general.

Long before winged sprint car racing came to prominence locally and nationally, the bare caged sprint car animals now known as USAC sprints represented the apex of the sport.

Coming up on June 15 at Port Royal Speedway it will be Fan Appreciation Night, offering JUST $10 adult general admission for a show of 410 sprints, late models and 305 sprints at 7 pm.
