June 23, 2013 – In pursuit of a second King of Indiana Sprint Series crown, Brady Short leads the area’s top sprint car racers to the Terre Haute Action Track with a commanding 80-point advantage. Kicking off a huge Independence Day weekend, the big event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2.
With the mid-week race, the Action Track has included a visit by NASCAR, IndyCar and USAC champion Tony Stewart. The program will also be a point-paying event for the tough Midwest Sprint Car Series.
Short’s lead is large enough that he will claim this year’s King of Indiana crown just by starting the main event. Notching victories at Bloomington and Gas City, and adding a pair of fifth place finishes, Short has been both fast and consistent in the Pottorff Logging sprinter. The battle for second will focus on Kevin Thomas Jr., Kokomo winner Robert Ballou, Hunter Schuerenberg and Casey Shuman, all within 64 point of each other. Thomas leads the MSCS points, 13 ahead of Short. Daron Clayton is third, followed by Kyle Cummins and Ballou.
Jon Stanbrough has won more KISS features at Terre Haute than anyone else, with victories in 2001, 2003 and 2006. The six-time KISS champion is teamed with Daryl Tate and Shane Wade’s Amati Racing and will be hunting his 20th KISS win. Robert Ballou won last year’s visit to the Action Track. Other KISS winners at the half mile oval include Levi Jones and Shane Cottle.
The final stop of the 2013 KISS tour, the Terre Haute Action Track will provide more information at www.terrehauteactiontrack.net.
The title will earn a second KISS champions helmet for Brady Short. A top of the line Simpson Performance Products racing helmet, with unique KISS artwork by VanHorn Tint and Accessories, sponsored by Sprint Car & Midget Magazine, is one of the most unique championship awards in the country.
